Syracuse TV anchor, reporter bids farewell after more than 3 years

A Syracuse television anchor and reporter is bidding farewell to Central New York.
Allura Leggard, a weekend anchor at CNY Central, made a “bittersweet” announcement Sunday that she is leaving the TV station after three and a half years there. Friday will be her last day.
“There are no words to express how grateful I am to all of you for allowing me to share your stories and opening your hearts to me as I embarked on my journalistic journey,” Leggard said. “When you all first met me, I was shaking the thought of being on camera… From the bottom of my heart, thank you.”
Leggard joined CNY Central as a multimedia journalist in June 2021, and became a weekend anchor/reporter in 2022. The Long Island native graduated from Ithaca College graduate in 2021 with a degree in journalism and a minor in African diaspora.
Leggard, who previously interned at NBC News and hosted a sports radio show in Ithaca, did not say what her next step would be.
CNY Central did not immediately respond to a request for comment on a possible replacement.
CNY Central, which includes Syracuse TV stations NBC 3 (WSTM), CBS 5 (WTVH) and CW 6 (WSTQ), is operated by Sinclair Broadcast Group.
